GOLF: Thailand Golf Championship selections – starts 10/12

Thailand Golf Championship
Amata Springs Country Club, Bangkok – 10th to 13th December

Good weather expected all week which is no surprise. The course plays very long and there is a fair bit of water in play.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat – 1 point E/W @ 18/1 (general)
Kiradech has been in decent form and he generally plays well in his own back yard. He’s not one to bow to the pressure of the home crowd’s expectation and he had a whole host of top 10 finishes last season. He has the game for this for sure and if he turns up in top form he should go well.

GOLF: Australian PGA selections – starts 3/12 — LOST!

We had another return last week with Rod Pampling (advised at 80/1) shooting a course record to finish 4th and the place money. This takes profit for 2015 up to +381.61 points.

We are concentrating on the Australian PGA Championship this week where we have hopefully found a little e/w value again.

Australian PGA Championship
RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast – 3rd to 6th December

This is the 3rd time this event has been held at the Royal Pines Resort, although the course has undergone some remodelling in the last couple of years. The fairways are fairly tight and there is a fair bit of water in play so we will be looking for accurate driving and iron play, which is generally a successful mix! There is expected to be some fairly strong winds about also.

Brett Rumford – 1 point E/W @ 20/1 (Stan James)
Finished 8th last week in the Australian Open and this week’s field doesn’t look quite as strong. Conditions should suit, especially if the forecast winds do arrive and he looks a solid e/w bet.

Greg Chalmers – 1 point e/w @ 50/1 (Sportingbet, Stan James)
He hasn’t been in the greatest of form but he usually saves his best for this, having won twice already. Hopefully he will bring his “A” game this week and if he does he is very capable of going close again.

GOLF: CIMB Classic – Robert Streb – 1 pt e/w @ 50/1 (click for preview)

Venue: The West Course, Kuala Lumpur

Length: 6,967 yards
Par: 72
Prize fund: $7 Million

A very picturesque course with some big greens and undulating fairways, the event has been won for the past 2 years by Ryan Moore who looks set to be a big challenger yet again.
Selections:

DANNY LEE – 1 PT E/W @ 28/1 (BetVictor, Stan James)
A breakthrouh year for Danny, registering his first win on teh PGA tour and he has been very consistent since then. He played well here last year (t-13th) and there is little doubt he is a better player this time around.

ROBERT STREB – 1 PT E/W @ 50/1 (Generally available)
Streb is another who has been very consistent this year and looks to have the ideal game for teh West Course. He is very good from tee to green, puts well and has a good temperament. If he turns up in top form there is every chance he could add to his sole PGA tour title.

GOLF: Turkish Airlines Open – Selections

Venue: Montgommery Maxx Royal Course, Turkey

Length: 6,400 metres
Par: 72
Prize fund: $7 Million

Just the 3rd time this even has been played at the Colin Montgomerie crafted Maxx Royal Course and with some decent weathre forecast, we look set for some low scoring once again.

The course will obviously suit the big hitters but there are some strategically placed bunkers so accuracy will definitely play a part also. There are 5 par-fives so realistically the course should be tailor-made for the market leader Rory McIlroy but he is very short and we have to look for a bit of value elsewhere. With the greens being extremely difficult to put on you need to be looking at a combination of length and solid, accurate iron play to prevail here.

Selections:

MATTEW FITZPATRICK – 1 PT E/W @ 22/1 (Paddy Power)

ANDY SULLIVAN – 1 PT E/W @ 22/1 (Paddy Power)
